Scottish government ventilation enhancement grant for optometry practices

Optometrist air purifier

The Scottish Government is taking further efforts to ensure that optometry practices are well-equipped to combat COVID-19. The government has made funds available that will be awarded to optometry practices that meet specific criteria. While the COVID-19 situation in Scotland has improved recently, it is still advisable to take the required steps to safeguard employees and patients from respiratory illnesses. COVID-19 infections have been demonstrated to be more prevalent in closed areas due to a lack of ventilation therefore air purifiers are required in critical locations like optometry offices and other medical operations.

Community optometry practices that want to apply for the ventilation improvement grant must fill out the claim form and return it to their local NHS Board by March 31, 2022, together with all applicable invoices and receipts from the purchase of the ventilation enhancement equipment. You may claim costs for the purchase of ventilation enhancement equipment up to a maximum ventilation enhancement grant payment of £1,500 per individual practice premises.

Air purifier 6-stage filtration technology

Our multi-stage filtration air purifiers are powerful devices combining the most advanced technologies currently available on the market. This combination of several filters guarantees the elimination of 99.97% of harmful particles, viruses and bacteria present in the air.

Unfortunately, ensuring ventilation where CO2 levels are below 800ppm is not always possible: rooms with a higher risk of viral load, bad weather, outdoor noise, visiting traffic and proximity between people and so on are all realities that medical practitioners must deal with.

Our products combine cutting-edge technologies with recognised filters that have been proven to be effective in the medical field for decades: each one comes with a HEPA 13 filter and is certified by the German TÜV laboratory, ensuring that they are reliable, safe, and consistent. You can count on them to establish disinfection systems that function consistently and for lengthy periods of time.

HEPA air purifiers installed with H13 filters can remove 99.95% of particles 0.1 microns in size, and H14 filters are even more effective removing 99.995% of such particles. In addition to helping reduce the spread of COVID-19 in medical practices, improving indoor air quality has a number of additional benefits:

  • Filters out allergens
  • Removes bad odours
  • Eliminates bad chemicals
  • Prevents indoor air pollution

Can you claim for air purifiers?

Air purifiers are eligible to claim, as long as they meet the minimum recommended ventilation rate of 6 air changes per hour. Air changes per hour is a measurement of the amount of times that the air is cleaned in one hour. They should have medical-grade HEPA filtration, preferably a UVC source, and be properly sized for the room in question.
